After a long year, Cristiano Ronaldo is again engaged in a gadget
promotion. This time it is an electric
muscle gadget. He was in Tokyo on Tuesday for the promotion, a year after he
visited to promote a smile enhancing gadget that looked a little like a
boomerang.
The 30 year old Portuguese International star emerged onto a
Tokyo stage filled in white smoke and bright light. He just stood there for a
while, looking little uncomfortable, until he was joined by the sponsor and a
translator.
A video played on the screens showed Cristiano's well-toned
body with an electric muscle simulation machine attached to his torso. The
company behind the gadget says that it
is the easiest way to achieve that desirable washboard look.
The gadget, Sixpad
Body Revolution, is a device that you can wear under your clothes to presumably
transform into a star football player. The device costs ¥23,800 (about $200).
Ronaldo said that the ab-toner machine as a “revolutionary device.” The Japanese
company attached to Sixpad is probably paying the reigning Ballon d’Or holder
millions to promote their products in the Far East.
Last year, the Real Madrid player was mocked on social media
for promoting a face exerciser that is to be flapped with mouth. Unfortunately,
the event became hilarious as Ronaldo refused to demonstrate the smile gadget,
despite many attempts by photographers and by talk show hosts.
Japan has become the favorite destination for the big American
and European celebrities who are paid high to sell products that never see the
light of day at home.
Earlier, these stars were able to keep these promotions
hidden from fans in their own country, but the widespread of the internet and
its easy access has now made this almost impossible.
