Cristiano Ronaldo has had many delightful moments in his glorious
career but this was a really special one for him as the notoriously
image-conscious striker came face-to-face with a semi-nude dummy of himself.
The 30 year old star was in Tokyo to promote his electric
muscle simulator, ‘Sixpad’, and not to promote his own physique. Cristiano
seemed pretty confused by his "double", an automated silicone model
created by a 3D printer. It took 110
micro cameras to recreate the star footballer but it still couldn’t rid the dummy
of that faintly inhuman look.
Ronaldo was clearly delighted with his 3D replicate. He labeled
it, “perfect”, checking the clone with a fluttering eyelids and roving eyes. “I
love it”, said delighted Ronaldo. The dummy, made by a Hollywood studio
for the Japanese gadget promotion, was semi-nude with a black pair
of Ronaldo‘s own brand of underwear and the “Six-Pad” gadget attached to
its torso.
“I have to say he looks just like me. I would be a liar
if I said it doesn’t”, added the Real Madrid forward.
The reigning Footballer of the Year appeared in jeans,
a tight T-shirt and diamond ear studs, which made the celebrities on Fuji TV’s
“Viking” show coo “Oh, your face is so small”, a traditional Japanese
compliment for good-looking foreigners.
Ronaldo laughed when
the male anchor asked about reports that the footballer does 3,000 sit-ups
daily. “No, that’s not true. I hit the gym after training every day, sure. But
I do about 300 sit-ups a day”, he said.
This was the second time Ronaldo is in Japan for gadget
promotions. Last year he was in Tokyo for a smile enhancing gadget promotion, which
topped the headlines of all sports media at that time.
