President of FPF (Portuguese Football Federation) said
Portugal could take Ronaldo to the 2016 Olympic Games.
According to the Olympic rules, each team can nominate 3
players born before Jan. 1, 1993, in their squad for the football tournament in
Rio de Janeiro. So Ronaldo, 30, could represent the national team as an overage
player at the Olympics, which will take place between Aug. 3-20 next year.
Portuguese Football Federation chief, Mr.Fernando Gomes said,
the issue was under consideration. Gomes said "It is a possibility. We can
bring three players aged over 23. Cristiano is one of those being considered,
but we have not yet sat down to discuss it."
But everyone doubts whether Ronaldo, who has been hampered
by injuries over the past months, should travel to Brazil for the tournament or
not, and this would be a busy schedule for Cristiano.
Ronaldo would miss the Real Madrid’s Preseason tour, if he
participates in the Olympics and if Portugal reaches the final, to be played on
August 20, he would likely miss the start of the 2016-17 La Liga season.
